Allison, Dorothy
I really enjoyed her reading. The ways she draws you into what she is reading was nice. I pictured the whole story as she was reading, it was like a visual in my mind. Her advice was also strong, by attacking yourself first you have left no room for anyone else to do so. I have read some of her work before and she is truly a good writer. I could have listened to her read the entire night, she puts so much into her reading that just makes you want more.
The conversation from Tuesday
I did not say anything in class because that is a conversation that I have heard so many times. I am a sociology minor, and I have all ready taken race and gender and race and ethnic. So the topic is one I have heard so many times. It is a issue that shall always be around no matter what we do. Racism to some people might not be the same as the next person. I have been around racism for so long that is does not bother me anymore. Living in the South you see it more than up North. That is only because down here we are not afraid to talk about it, unlike in the North they hide it like it is not real.

Appropriations of Culture
The story seemed real hearing him read it in class. I felt more connected with the character after hearing it read. This day in time I am not sure if I like the character or not. Though it does touch an issue that has been around for years. The dialogue in the story really works, it puts you in the story and let you really feel what was going on.

Araby
This is a piece that I read before, it was enjoyable to read the second time. The plot behind the story is realizing truth around you. He was in love with his bestfriends sister even though she was older and never looked at him that way. He never realized he had no chance until he spent money on her and she still didn't love him. Though most kids have a crush on someone that is older and they really think they will be together. This story is very relate able.

Edwidge Dandicat's "A Wall of Fire Rising.
I liked this piece it was family oriented and spoke lots of truth. like the character guy he was a very poor man that had to do what it took to provide for his family. Josephine was dealing with the fact that her mother is in jail and the rumors that was said about her. the theme of this piece seems to be pain and hurt. and they all share the same pain in a way whether it be by lost of a loved one or not being able to do for your family.
Brother Grasshoper
The description worked in this piece. The scenes that had was not overly detailed. It was a long read but a easy one. The climax came at the right moment, when I was about to stop reading it had though wow moment.
Midnight in Dostoevsky
I agree the dialogue in this piece does help the story. The conversations really flowed and you knew exactly who was saying what. The fact that the story was mainly about a coat made it very boring. The language that was used was not clear at all times. Reading pieces that I don't know what they are really talking about makes it a slower read because I have to keep going back to re-read
